PATFox presented at III World Forum on Human Rights 2023
Last week PATFox was presented at the III World Forum on Human Rights in Buenos Aires, organised by the International Centre for the Advancement of Human Rights (ICPDH-UNESCO) and the Secretariat of Human Rights of Argentina.
The World Forum on Human Rights is a space designed to bring together and integrate national, regional and international organisations with the aim of exchanging experiences and good practices in the field of democracy and human rights.
After the Brazilian edition in 2013 and the second edition organised in Morocco in 2014, and in line with the 40th anniversary of Argentina's return to democracy, the third edition of the World Forum on Human Rights (WFMHR2023) brought together more than 21,000 people from 98 countries - former presidents, leaders of human rights organisations, civil organisations and associations, professionals and academics - to discuss the progress and challenges in the field of human rights.
Within the framework of the forum, our partner FIBGAR organised the debate "SLAPPs in the world: new threats to democracy, human rights and the rule of law" with the aim of sharing the experience of our pioneering project as well as informing about the initiatives that are being carried out in Europe to address the phenomenon of strategic lawsuits against public participation.
The panel session included distinguished panelists as Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni, former judge of the Inter‑American Court of Human Rights, Claudia Rocca and Andrea Vlausich, from the Argentinian Association of Jurists, FIBGAR’s President, Baltasar Garzón, and Alessia Schiavon, project coordinator of PATFox.
