Second Hungarian Anti-SLAPP workshop held in Budapest
On the 14th of November, held the second workshop “Fellépés a közéleti részvételt akadályozó perekkel szemben --- Műhelyfoglalkozás jogászok, médiaszakemberek és civil szervezeti képviselők számára” --- (Anti-SLAPP Training for Legal and Media Professionals, and Civil Society representatives in Hungary) in cooperation with the Hungarian Europe Society/Magyarországi Európa Társaság (MET)
The seminar was conducted in-person by Bea Bodrogi, lawyer and member of the European Commission’s expert group on SLAPPs. Participants from outside of Budapest could also follow the workshop online. Dr. Tivadar Hüttl, a prominent human rights lawyer and Dr. Erik Uszkiewicz, lawyer and representative of the Hungarian Europe Society also contributed to the training by analysing specific case studies.
The workshop was structured around three sessions. Bea Bodrogi started with a briefing on the European Commisson's Anti-SLAPP proposal. During the second session, the workshop focused on the Hungarian experience of SLAPPs and the likely impact of the draft Directive and Recommendation.Finally, participants worked collaboratively on case studies.
The event was attended by 15 lawyers, journalists and NGO activists who actively participated in the discussion.
